In particular, the invention relates to a method for cleaning out floor drains in such a tunnel. Car wash tunnels are used for washing vehicles. Cars are moved through a tunnel having floors and walls. A conveyor system holds the car to be washed, and a spray system cleans the car. Water is pumped through spray heads located along the floor and the walls of the tunnel. Often, a floor drain is provided at the wash station so that water that is pumped by a spray head can be directed into the floor drain rather than flooding the floor and walls of the tunnel. Such a floor drain may be provided along the length of a tunnel. Typically, the floor drain is located in the middle of the tunnel and the longitudinal axis of the floor drain is at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the tunnel. Thus, the floor drain is perpendicular to the direction in which the car is moved. The floor drains in a car wash tunnel contain large amounts of debris, such as sand, water, wax, paint, dirt, and the like. The debris clogs up the floor drain. If the drain is not cleaned out often, a poor washing of the vehicle takes place because the floor drain clogs up with debris and the water cannot flow properly. Thus, the floor drain needs to be cleaned out often so that the vehicle is washed properly. U.S. Pat. No. 5,324,243 discloses a cleaning device that can be used to clean a floor drain. The device includes a housing, and a motor and auger located in the housing. The auger is connected to a perforate plate. The device is moved through a floor drain. The device is moved by the auger in a first direction, and water is fed through a hole in the plate for cleaning out the floor drain. The problem with this device is that a blockage can form in the floor drain. When debris, such as sand, water, or wax, block the floor drain, the cleaning process will be inefficient because the water will not be able to be pumped in a proper manner. Moreover, the blockage will prevent the perforate plate from being moved properly, as the plate will not be free to translate to the right and left direction. d0c515b9f4
